Under the guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT), NSS and RRC unit of SSDWIT, Bathinda organised seven days camp from 22 to 28 January, 2024 .The main purpose of organising this camp is to developing the personality and character of the students youth through voluntary community service.The inaugural ceremony of NSS camp was presided over by college president Adv.Sanjay Goyal on 22nd Jan 2024. NSS volunteers honoured formal welcome to all the dignitaries by presenting beautiful plants. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the guests, NSS volunteers Simranjeet and Gitanjali performed the Ganesh Vandana.
Thereafter, Principal Dr. Neeru Garg enlightened the Volunteers by encouraging them and wishing them all the best. Dr. Monika Bansal( NSS Programme Officer) thanked all the dignitaries and delivered the action plan of this seven days camp.
Dr. Usha Sharma( Former NSS Programme Officer, SSDGC) was invited as the resource person for inaugural session of NSS camp. In her speech, She described the role of youth in the development of our society. She also motivated the students by explaining the essence of Democratic living and upholding the need for selfless service which completely justifies the motto of NSS “Not Me but You”. Madam also conducted an oath taking ceremony where everyone took an oath to change themselves for the transformation of the whole Nation. An elaborated arrangement was also made for LIVE telecast of the Ayodhya ceremony. All the Volunteers watched the live streaming of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony . The volunteers served a special langar that was organised in the college campus on this auspicious occasion.

On the second day of camp, Ms. Ashu Garg (Assistant professor in Punjabi and Teacher at Art of Living, Art Excel and Yes Courses) conducted the yoga session with an aim to reduce stress and increase the productivity of life. The day continued with an awareness session on ‘Life Skills and HIV/ AIDS’. The keynote speaker of this session was Mr. Narinder Bassi, UNAIDS Civil Society Awardee and State Awardee Community AIDS Educator. In his address, Mr. Bassi highlighted about HIV/ AIDS infection and its precautions. All the volunteers participated enthusiastically.

Day 3: A Guest Lecture was organised for the volunteers to raise the awareness about  Cancer. Dr. Rajesh Vashishta ( Director  and medical adviser, Max Super Speciality Hospital , Bathinda) was invited as resource person on the topic “Cancer Awareness and Prevention”. He discussed about various causes of Cancer like genetic, environmental and Lifestyle etc. and how by early detecting the symptoms we can prevent and cure the cancer. He clarified many myths , doubts and facts about the Cancer in interactive session. Furthermore, a workshop on “First –aid and Home Nursing” was conducted. The training was imparted by “Bharti Red Cross Society and Sant John Ambulance” of Bathinda district led by Sh. Naresh Pathania. The Workshop imparted knowledge of commonly occurring situation in our day to day life.

Day 4: The camp was started with a religious visit to Shri Iccha Puran Hanuman Temple, Goniana. Volunteers spent some early morning time in the serene environs of the temple. They also participated in ‘Langar Sewa’ there. After that an awareness rally was conducted at the village Gill Patti.  Volunteers also visited Govt. School of village and spread awareness among students on the theme ‘ Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat’. They also cleaned and maintained beautification of the school campus as well as the Gurudwara Sahib’ of the village during their visit. At last they visited the ‘Angheen Gaushala ‘ and offered green fodder to all the cows there.

Day 5: NSS Volunteers Celebrated Republic Day and salutes the values that make our nation great.

Day 6: The 6th day of Camp was dedicated to various competitions such as Poem recitation, Shayari competition, Solo Song and Slogan writting. It sparked interest, passion and ignites a fire within them.  Participants are encouraged to improve themselves and learn a new technique. After that, Volunteers enjoyed various fun Games.

Day 7: On the day of concluding ceremony, NSS coordinators welcomed  all the dignitaries with beautiful plants. Nss Volunteers gave various performances. NSS Programme Officer Dr. Monika  Bansal read out the report in which she briefed the audience about the various activities performed by the NSS unit during the seven days camp. She also expressed her great gratitude towards president of the college, principal, and all the volunteers who were directly or indirectly involved  in this camp. Further, patriotic songs were sung by some volunteers. Two NSS volunteers Ms. Kanchan and Ms. Simranjeet Kaur shared their experiences about the camp. At the end of the day, felicitation ceremony was also  done in which various volunteers were awarded with certificates and mementos by all the dignitaries. Ms. Gorushi received best NSS volunteer award. Ms. Vanshika achieved Best Group leader award and Ms. Simranjeet Kaur achieved Camp leader award. He played a significant role in uniting India. On this day, two volunteers – Isha and Gorushi participated in declamation on national unity. They told that unity plays a pivotal role in promoting national integration among the citizens of the country. A pledge to observe Vigilance Awareness week was also taken thereafter by all students and staff members in college premises to eliminate corruption in public life. All the volunteers shared their views in a special talk on ” Paricharcha on Corruption” during vigilance awareness week. At the end of the celebration, Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) expressed her views about avoiding the misuse of power and positions for personal and financial gain. She also gave away appreciation certificates to all the participants.

NSS Day is a celebration to commemorate the tireless efforts of each volunteer towards the welfare of one and all. On this Day, a workshop on “First –Aid and Home Nursing” was conducted . The training was imparted by Mr. Naresh Pathania, National Master Trainer in First Aid, Indian Red Cross Society, Bathinda.

Principal Dr. Neeru Garg welcomed Sh. Naresh Pathania with a beautiful planter and Memento.NSS volunteer, Gorushi and Jasmeen delivered a speech on significance of NSS and vital role of NSS in the society. Mr. Naresh threw light on the corrective measures to be taken for a person suffering from Cardiac arrest or brain stroke. He further added about the difference between the first aid trainer and an ordinary man. He explained about remedial actions one should take during situations like bleeding, dog-bites, snake bites, etc. All the students and faculty members attended this workshop and learnt about various life saving techniques such as DRABC CPR.At the end of the workshop, Dr. Monika Bansal (NSS & RRC Programme Officer) thanked Mr. Pathania for the valuable information provided by him. This event was organized by the coordinators of NSS and RRC Unit.

The camp for this noble cause was inaugurated by Adv Sanjay Goyal (President). The camp witnessed active participation from volunteers and faculty who volunteered to donate blood to serve the society. Through this blood donation camp, NSS and RRC unit aimed to raise motivation among students and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. At the end of the camp, Dr. Monika Bansal (NSS Programme Officer) and Ms. Navita Singla (RRC Nodal Officer) appreciated and thanked all students and staff members – Dr. Kirti Singh and Dr. Shaveta who voluntarily donated the blood for this noble cause.

The day was started with the orientation program of newly joined NSS volunteers. Programme Officer Dr. Monika Bansal introduced the objectives of NSS to the new volunteers and presented a slide show of major activities of NSS unit during last few years. After this, two competitions i.e. POT PAINTING and HEALTHY & NUTRITIOUS FOOD were organised. President Adv Sanjay Goyal and Principal Dr. Neeru Garg and Dr Usha Sharma (NSS Programme Officer, SSDGC) were cordially invited for the judgement of these events.Ms. Navita Singla (RRC Nodal Officer) welcomed all the judges with beautiful planters. About 100 students participated in this celebration. In Pot Painting competition, Richa secured first position and Bhoomi and Himanshi secured second and third position respectively. Two more students Sukhdeep Kaur and Meenakshi got consolation prize. In healthy & nutritious food competition, Aditi won first prize. The winners of second and third prize are Divya Garg and Priya. The consolation prize was given to Tisha. All the volunteers participated in these events very enthusiastically. President Adv Sanjay Goyal, Sh. Krishan Bansal (Vice-President), Sh. Vikas Garg (Secretary) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) congratulated and gave away prizes to all the winners. The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an India Government Sponsored Public Service Program Conducted by the Ministry of youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. NSS provides the students an opportunity to understand the Community, identify its needs and problems as well as the solutions in which they can be involved by assuming social and civil responsibilities. SSDWIT’s NSS Unit accomplishes various activities like Swacchh Bharat Abhiyaan, Literacy Programmes, personality development, Self-Defence for girls, awareness rallies, seminar on various issues social and health, blood donation Camp etc.

To celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, NSS and RRC unit of SSD Women’s Institute of Technology, Bathinda organised various activities such as poster making, slogan writing, singing, and poem recitation on 75th Independence Day. The program was aimed to unleash the spirit of patriotism among the students. The day was started with the hoisting of flag by Adv Sanjay Goyal (President), and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal). Management members, all the staff members along with students also joined this ceremony. Karanveer  recited a punjabi patriotic poem “Gulzar wangu mehak da rahe mera sohna hindustan”. Riya, Kushi  and Kirti  prepared posters and wrote slogans on Har Ghar Tiranga. Sheenu  sang a patriotic song. All the students participated in this campaign very enthusiastically. This was observed under the supervision of Dr. Monika Bansal (NSS Programme Officer) and Ms. Navita Singla (Nodal Officer). Adv Sanjay Goyal (President), Sh. NSS and RRC unit of SSDWIT celebrated Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on 15 Nov 2022 by conducting Declamation among students of various classes. Ms. Navita Singla (RRC Nodal Officer) started the session with brief introduction of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s contribution as freedom fighter and legacy of unsung heroes of Janjatiya Communities. Further, the session was continued by Ms.Mohini who presented the role of tribal Communities and stories of unsung fighters in the freedom of India and Ms.Bhoomi continued the session by discussing why Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is celebrated and presented the biography of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. All the students participated enthusiastically during the session.
