Webinar Series was organized by SSD Women’s Institute of Technology, Bathinda from 2nd June- 7th June, 2020. Keeping in mind the present pandemic COVID-19, different topics were covered on different days. Eminent personalities from India and abroad were the resource persons on these days. The webinar series got overwhelming response of participants from India and abroad.

Under the guidance of Principal of SSDWIT, Dr. Neeru Garg an initiative was taken to arrange a talk of college President Sr. Advocate Sh. Sanjay Goyal with all the students of SSDWIT. This talk was arranged due to the novel corona virus pandemic which has affected the whole country. Under such a situation the education sector has also been seriously affected. In this scenario SSDWIT came forward and first time in its history, the President, Sh. Sanjay Goyal addressed all the students in a very productive and positive manner. All the students showed keen interest during the entire session. It was an overall a lively and interactive session.
During COVID-19 outbreak, to unlock the hidden talent and to energize the students, SSDWIT, BATHINDA hosted E-event i.e. online competitions and provided an opportunity to explore the “PRATIBHA” among them. 256 entries were received for different competitions i.e. Poster making, Rangoli, Video Making, Poem recitation and Paper presentation. Due to the overwhelming response, this E-event was conducted in two sessions via zoom platform. In morning session, Poster making and Rangoli were organized and in continuation of the program, second session for rest of the events were organized in afternoon.

One Week workshop on “Easy Understanding of Programming Language using C” was organized from 6th July-11th July, 2020. Various students from many schools and colleges participated very enthusiastically in this workshop. The participants were acknowledged with the basic knowledge of Computer Programming and got hands-on practice in coding. All the queries of the students were resolved and at the end of each session, students gave their valuable remarks.
SSDWIT Bathinda organized “MASK MAKING CAMPAIGN AND COMPETITION” online via Facebook from 8th July to 20th July 2020. The aim was to explore and encourage creativity in students and offer them a platform to show their skill in mask making. It inspired them to think and work creatively and promote artistic excellence. Out of around 35 entries, 8 participants have been selected for final round. Winners were:

A Great Initiative: BY THE STUDENTS FOR THE STUDENTS
SSDWIT empowers students to succeed at every step of their education journey. To encourage student’s participation at different levels, a five-day Student Development Program on E-Learning “Real World to Virtual World” is organized from 14th July-18th July,2020. The activities of this SDP are planned to develop the potential of students providing them an opportunity to learn and plan. Under this great initiative, SSDWIT students are sharing their knowledge on the topics chosen as per need of the time.

First Ever Online Alumni Meet was organized on 26th July 2020. More than 100 students of different batches from India and abroad joined the digital platform to revive old unforgettable memories. ‘WIT SAFARNAMA’ was the main attraction highlighting all the college achievements since 1998. The Alumni residing abroad and India shared their views.
S.S.D. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BATHINDA organized Rakhi Making Competition from 30th July to 2nd August, 2020 online via facebook. Out of 48 entries for hand made Rakhi Competition, 12 participants were shortlisted for final round of competition. With a view to keeping teaching faculty abreast with the latest technique in pedagogy, NSS and Red Ribbon Club of institute organized one day capacity building workshop on “Post COVID-19: Redefining Education according to New Technology” on 31st July, 2020. The workshop was focused on online teaching education technologies during this pandemic crisis. The resource person, Mr. Sanjay Bhatnagar (Head of Computational Sciences, MRSPTU, Bathinda, enlightened the teaching faculty about the selection and use of various e-resources and platforms to facilitate the rapid identification of online teaching modes. All the teachers experienced hands-on practice on various cloud meeting apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, Jio Meet etc. and use of virtual classroom app like Google classroom.
Under the guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal), SSDWIT Bathinda has commenced Personality Development Programme for the students to give them additional training in relevant aspects so designed to widen their outlook and perspectives during this Pandemic crisis. On 8th August, 2020, first session of PDP was conducted by Ms. Priya James, Project Manager at Financial services company IHS Markit, London(UK) for the students of MBA and MCA. It was an introductory session with the aim to develop life skills and enhance potential of the students. During the session, she focused on the importance of creative and logical thinking, group behavior and interpersonal skills. She also guided the students to upgrade their knowledge according to the need of market and current scenario of jobs in foreign countries. She will be having sessions with the students after regular intervals to improve their communication skills and enable them to fetch the lucrative jobs in the MNCs.
Jashan-E-Aazadi 2020
SSDWIT, Bathinda celebrated “Jashan-E-Aazadi 2020” online. Students of all the classes participated with full enthusiasm to celebrate the Independence day. Students took part in various activities like speech, song, poem recitation, video making , slogan writing dedicated to the martyrs of Galwan Valley. College premises was decorated very beautifully to celebrate this day. All the visual recordings were played via projector in College.
Virtual Teacher’s Day Celebration at SSDWIT campus on 5th September, 2020.The day was celebrated by combining with the Orientation Programme to welcome new students of all courses. The function was started by paying tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan whose birthday is celebrated every year as Teacher’s Day in India. All the staff members and students joined virtually to pay rich tributes to the great educationist of the country. After this, Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) welcomed all the newcomers and made them aware the rules and regulations of the college and also about various activities being conducted in the college.
The event was continued with various activities performed by the students like thank you cards, video presentations and speeches on Teacher’s Day and conducted various games for the teachers also. Students and teachers enjoyed a lot during these activities. It was a celebration with shifting from physical to online mode. Sh. Sanjay Goyal (President, SSDWIT) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT) appreciated the efforts of the students for making this day memorable one and wished all the teachers a very Happy Teacher’s Day.
NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of SSDWIT Bathinda celebrated NSS Day on 24th September, 2020. To commemorate the day, a webinar on the topic “Importance of First Aid in Disasters & Road Accidents” was organized. Mr. Naresh Pathania (National Master Trainer, RRC) was the resource person in the webinar. He raised awareness on how human life can be saved by providing first aid on time to injured in case of natural calamities such as disaster and flood, and unfortunate incidents like road accidents. He provided guidance on preventive measures of Corona Virus too. He suggested that everyone should have helpline numbers of welfare society and ambulance to call in case of emergency. In the concluding session, he resolved various queries of students. On this occasion, College Management and Principal planted fruits and vegetables trees in college premises.
On 2nd October 2020, Volunteers of NSS and RRC unit of SSD Women’s Institute of Technology, Bathinda have celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi Ji by participating in an online quiz on the learnings of Bapu ji and by taking pledge on #FitIndiaFreedomRun through MyGov platform.

SSDWIT, Bathinda organized an online intra college competition on 151th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji on 2nd Oct,2020. This competition was based upon the preaches of Gandhi Ji to evaluate the students to know moral values of life. Many students enthusiastically participated in this event and prepared different pictures and slogans related to Mahatma Gandhi on posters and charts.

Navratri is a gyaan festival dedicated to the worship of the hindu Goddess Durga. During Navaratra, under the guidance of Adv. Sh. Sanjay Goyal (President, S.S.D. Group of Girls’ Colleges), Sh. Vikas Garg(Secretary, SSDWIT) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT) a “Competition Saga” was inaugurated in SSDWIT from 16th October to 24th October, 2020. It was a live event and was hosted and carried out on an online platform google meet due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Day 1: 16th October- Chaniya Choli Competition
All the participants represented different states and their culture of celebrating navratri through their costumes, jewellery and props.

All the participants cooked and explained different kinds of healthy, delicious and nutrition filled food with the help of fasting special ingredients like Sabudana (Tapioca Balls), Kuttu ka Atta(Buckwheat Flour), Makhana(Fox Nuts) etc.

Day 3: 22nd October- Dandiya Raas & Garba Competition
All the participants performed Garba and Dandiya Raas by wearing attractive & ravishing dresses and jewellery with the use of different kind of props like Dandiya Sticks & Matki etc. and represented the different states and their culture of celebrating navratri through their dance performances.

Day 4: 24th October-Navratra Gyaan Quiz
There were two rounds in this competition called Multiple Choice Question and Image Recognition/Complete the Line. Candidates from the first round were shortlisted on the cut-off basis for the second round. Candidates with most correct answered questions were selected as the winners of this competition.

NSS and RRC unit of SSDWIT Bathinda observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 27th October to 2nd November, 2020 with the theme “Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat” to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life. On 27th October, 2020, Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT), staff and students took a pledge to dedicate them to uphold integrity in all aspects of our national life. To commemorate birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a guest lecture was organized on the topic “Impact of Corruption on the Development of Indian Society” on 30th October,2020. The resource person of this guest lecture was Sh. Chander Parkash, Former State Information Commissioner, Punjab. During his address he said that corruption is a major hindrance to the progress of the nation. Vigilance Awareness Week was concluded On 2nd November, 2020 with an online debate competition on the topic “Zero Tolerance on Corruption”. Students participated with zeal and enthusiasm to achieve the objective to eliminate corruption in public life. Arti Bhandari secured 1st position and Manjot Kaur secured 2nd position.
To commemorate the festival of Diwali, SSDWIT, Bathinda organised a very alluring online competition named as “Dipen Fest” with various events such as Edible Diya Crafts, Footprint Crafts, Lanterns for Diwali, Bandhan baar and Salt Dough Candle Holder on 10th November 2020. All the students participated enthusiastically and enjoy a lot this event. Winners of the Edible Diya Crafts were 1st: Kirandeep, 2nd: Kirti and 3rd: Karanveer Kaur Dhillon, In Footprint Crafts, Winners were 1st: Khushboo Saini, In the Lanterns For Diwali, Winners were 1st: Bindia, 2nd: Muskan, In the Bandhan baar, Winners were 1st: Nitika, 2nd: Khushboo Saini and In the Salt Dough Candle Holder, Winners were 1st: Vimsh. The event was successfully organised under the guidance of Adv. Sanjay Goyal (President of S.S.D. Group of Girls’ Colleges) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal SSDWIT).
NSS Unit & Red Ribbon Club of SSDWIT, Bathinda observed World AIDS Day on 01/12/20. Two group activities i.e. E-slogan writing and E-poster making were organised with the objective of spreading awareness on AIDS among the students. This day is an opportunity for all of us to unite and fight against HIV, to spread awareness about the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world.
All NSS volunteers participated in this event with great enthusiasm.
Under the aegis of FIT INDIA MOVEMENT, NSS and Red Ribbon Club of SSDWIT, Bathinda organized various activities with an aim to create awareness and disseminating the message of physical fitness among the students. Under the supervision of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT), FIT INDIA Prabhat Pheri, Cyclothone, and a webinar on nutritious diet were conducted in the month of December (1st to 15th December, 2020). On the first day, FIT INDIA Prabhat Pheri was organized by the volunteers. Next activity was the FIT INDIA Cyclothone which was arranged to encourage the students for cycling as their daily activity for atleast half an hour under the tag-line “Fitness Ka Doze, Aadha Ghanta Roz”. Being a part of this campaign, third activity i.e. a webinar was also conducted for the students to create awareness among them about intake of nutritious diet. The resource person of the webinar was a consultant dietitian, Ms. Leena, from Max Super-Specialty Hospital, Bathinda. The resource person acknowledged all the students that what kind of nutritious food should be followed to stay healthy. She also emphasized them to do physical exercises in their routine life especially during this epidemic time when they have to sit for prolonged hours for their studies.
The programme of District Youth Parliament was organised in virtual mode under the guidelines of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on 26th December, 2020. Many students from different-different schools and colleges of Mansa, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Mukatsar, Moga and Fazilka participated in this competition. Our three NSS Volunteers – Muskan, Arti and Sukriti took part in the event and performed very well. Its a delightful moment for SSDWIT, Bathinda that one of our NSS Volunteers, Arti is awarded as the best speaker in this District level event and now she is going to take part in State Youth Parliament 2020. Adv.Sanjay Goyal (President) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) congratulated her and NSS Programme Officer Ms. Monika Bansal for this achievement.
